 Kan-ed Connectivity Process

I. Introduction

I.1 Purpose

The purpose of this document is to outline the process by which Kan-ed will facilitate connection of a member to the Kan-ed Network. It defines the roles and interaction points of the following key players:

• The constituent
• The service provider
• Kan-ed staff
• NOC staff

I.2 Scope

This document provides the framework for the connection process from beginning to end. The forms utilized in this process and the technical aspects of connectivity to be considered are not included.

I.3 Overview

The basic steps required to facilitate connectivity are outlined below. The remainder of this document reviews each step in detail:

Service Initiation Request Form Completion
The service initiation form is filled out on-line at www.kan-ed.org by the administrative contact requesting connectivity for the constituent.
Access Consultation Discussion
Once the Service Initiation form is received by Kan-ed and the NOC, the Access Consultation Discussion is initiated by Kan-ed staff with the constituent.
Service Provider Notification of RFP
Notification of RFP to service providers is conducted by Kan-ed, and runs concurrent with the Access Consultation Discussion.
Kan-ed/NOC Notification
The NOC and Kan-ed staff must be notified by the constituent when the choice of service provider has been made via the Kan-ed/NOC Notification of Provider Choice form.
Technical Requirements Discussion
Once the NOC has been notified of the service provider choice, a Technical Requirements Discussion must take place to actually begin the connectivity process to define all requirements of the project.
Status Reporting Process
Once the project has begun, the Status Reporting Process will take effect to notify all four participating entities of project status on a weekly basis.
Service Review
Upon completion of connectivity, a Service Review will be conducted to gather constituent feedback regarding Kan-ed, NOC, and service provider interaction and service.
